In a Trance

Euphoria

So the last week has sort of made me realize my musical path a little bit more. I don’t understand why but regular top 40 just doesn’t seem to be cutting it for me anymore. I wish I could be satisfied with it and I really think it’s great and want to enjoy it more than I currently do. I think my mind is just a bit messed up/maybe I’m depressed? :S Either way I feel uplifting styles like Trance are really turning things around. I almost feel that I’m not meant to stay satisfied with regular pop music. Pop music was a great incentive to learn how to compose music but maybe Trance is the next step for me? I might not be right, and I hope I’ll be able to cover a wide variety of genres but I think I’m thinking too much. 

Anywho the music I’m making lately is all pop structured with the intention of making dance pop, but once I get to the chorus of my songs I feel it always needs to be big and inspiring sounding (or else I feel the song is empty), so I turn to the trance elements, big reverb synths, fast moving arpeggios, even more drums, and just overall a little bit more complex than the verses. I’m pretty happy with the two songs I’ve composed this week. One of the songs is trance all throughout in my opinion, it was the epic sound I was searching for. The second song was made with a friend’s personality in mind, so I went for a song with retro pop elements, modern pop elements, and by the time it reaches the chorus trance takes over. 

I’m very excited to record these two songs with two of my good friends. I can tell the songs are going to be as inspiring as I intended them to be with some new vocals on the songs. Hopefully my when my music takes another huge step all of my songs that are done for fun/as demos these days will have a professional touch to them someday. Only time will tell, and I will try to keep inspired throughout it all.
